The death of Audioslave and Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell hit a lot of people hard. He was a huge musical influence on a bunch of local musicians, so when Black Oak Decline drummer Tony Caballero put the call out for tribute show that would also serve as a fundraiser for suicide prevention and the Distress Centre Ottawa and Region, he had no shortage of takers: members of Red Rails, A Darker Day, Defined, Merdarahta, Rydell, Old Rules, Wild Love, Wicked Mercy and Stuart Hoopfer all answered the call, with Arturo of Hard Science also contributing some visuals. When I arrived the place was jammed with people of all ages, some of them about the right age to be conceived to Badmotorfinger (to ake myself feel old, I reminded myself I bought it when it came out in 1991 - on cassette). Now on to the photos ... unfortunately I don't know most of these folks, so the captions are going to be a bit on the generic side. Here's some vocal action on Rusty Cage!
Guitar action!
Illuminated action!
Meanwhile, on stage left ...
Bass action!
Here's Seb from Merdarahta (among other acts), joined by buddy Serge for some acoustic action!
Barre chord action!
Shouty Seb action!
Now on to some guys I don't know, with the exception of drummer and organizer Tony. Here he is!
Gripping action!
Guitar action!
Fist-bump action with A Darker Day's Gumby!
Flying V action with ADD's Marc!
More guitar!
More vocals!
Then there was a bit of an acoustic, starting with Stuart Hoopfer ...
And then Kim from Red Rails.
After which he was joined by some Wicked Mercy folks for some electric action - here's Steve on drums!
More guitar!
Bass action with Mark!
And so on!
I had to split, so I'm not sure if there was anything before or after, but it was all really solid.
