This Saturday's edition of Switched on Synths at House of Targ was a particularly good one - great sets from circuit benders RAAS and kosmic kosmonauts Pekora Pekora, dancefloor intensity fron Douce Angoisse and some serious 1980s flashbacking from Glass Apple Bonzai. Here's some RAAS in action with Kerry!
Adjusting action!
More Michael!
Extra Kerry!
Pecora Pecora come from Montreal, and turn out some soundtrack-influenced synth sounds. They also dress the part! Here's Valerie and Marcello!
More Marcello!
Robotic action!
And so on!
Well, you get the picture!
I hear Douce Angoisse played a knockout set at this year's Switched On Synths Fest (which ran around the same time as Ottawa Explosion, so I unfortunately missed it all). She was back, sans drummer this time, for some more darkwave goodness. But first, some guitar sounds!
She's mighty active on stage!
Anguished action!
Gentle action!
Tabular action!
Less-dressed action!
Adjusting action!
Glass Apple Bonzai came up from Toronto for their first-ever Ottawa show, and I have to say their retro-synth set sounded dead-on (and I grew up in the 1980s, when synths were almost inescapable). Here's mainman Daniel (that's Steve in the background).
Steve sings!
More Daniel!
Keyboard action!
Even more Daniel!
Extra Steve!
I'm looking forward to seeing all four acts again!
