As September came to a close Orlando's Wet Nurse took a trip through town. It was their first visit to Canada, and they seemed mighty happy about it. The crowd was certainly happy to see them as well, because they put on a dynamite show, one of the best pop-punk gigs I've seen in a while. Also on hand were Coccinella and Nightshades. Things started off with some mask wearing by Coccinella.
Actually, I think they barely made it out of the soundcheck.
Stephanie sings!
Ommie Jane puts the pedal down.
Melanie sings! I forget if there was any explanation for the balloons.
Ommie Jane sings!
Extra Melanie!
Extra Stephanie!
On to Nightshades, sounding a bit punkier this time I thought.
Mallory sings!
Tyler has joined on bass since I last saw them playing live at Targ back in April.
Geoff hits!
And so on!
Extra Tyler!
More Mallory!
The end!
Wet Nurse is sisters Nina and Susana Chaplin, drummer Vanessa Brewster and guitarist Baile Yeager. They have a new album, So It Goes, out now and are touring all over in support (I believe they've hit the West Coast after a jaunt through the Midwest). Here's Susana (and Baile at back).
Guitar action with Nina!
Susana sings!
Sisterly action!
Baile frets!
Vanessa hits!
Guitar-shaking action!
Singalong action!
Extra Vanessa!
More Susana!
More percussion!
That was mighty fine.
