Another batch of Wings of Metal travellers rolled into Ottawa a week ago - and it was one of the bands high on the "I'll never see them live" list: Vulcain. I didn't even realize they were still a going concern; the band often touted as France's answer to Motorhead called it quits back in 1998, but apparently the call of metal was too much to resist for brothers Vincent and Daniel Puzo and drummer Marc Varez, since they got the band back together in 2009. Things started off with a little Slumlord - here's bassist Severine.
T.J. sings!
Trasha hits!
Telecaster action!
Sev sings!
More Trasha!
Extra Sev!
On to Vulcain, who held on to the middle slot despite being the headliners. I kind of like the idea of putting the main band on in the middle, though it did mean a bunch of folk split on Chloroform. Here's axeman and singer Daniel.
Marc hits!
A took a bunch of photos while they lights were down low - fortunately they turned things up a bit which allowed for a better series of shots.
Daniel frets!
Marc shouts!
And so on!
Vincent works the Ric.
Marc hams it up!
The crowd was mighty enthusiastic!
Rick, Scott and Brendan had a hard act to follow, and ripped through their set with abandon.
Scott hits!
Brendan jumps about!
And falls over as usual.
Another one for the history books.
