Last Thursday I went to the House of Targ to check out a couple of local bands that had previously escaped my radar. Steve Judd & The Underdogs are a folk-rocking combo with some excellent melodies, while Toska veers more toward an early Replacements vibe. Toska took the stage first; I've no idea who any of these folks are, apart from bassist Tyler, who also works at Targ.
Guitar action!
Tyler sings!
More guitar!
Singalong action!
Percussive action!
The whole lot!
Steve Judd drummed for many New York musicians during a stint in the Big Apple; since his return he's worked with various members of The John Henrys and assembled The Underdogs to back his musical endeavours.
Doug Gouthro handles lead guitar duties.
Rhythm section action!
Fenderized action!
And off to the right some keyboarding and banjo-playing and accordion (not all at the same time).
More drumming (from Geoff Ward; like Doug he's a John Henrys vet)!
More vocals!
Underdogged action!
Extra Steve!
Banjo action!
Also accordion!
The bendy bit!
Singalong action!
All mighty entertaining.
