If you examine the National Capital Rock header closer, you'll see it's a picture of a bunch of amps from the Boris/Torche/Nachmystium show at Babylon. I think the folks from Blackbread, Hellbros and Black Pussy may have plonked even more wattage into a smaller space for last week's House of Targ show.
That's a lot of Sunn amplitude. As befits a Targ show headlined by a 1970s-revering act, Yogi's own heavy crew, BlackBread, started things off.
Bass action with Ian!
Adam hits!
Yogi frets!
Rhythm section action!
Gripping action with Megan!
And some last-minute bass-lifting.
Hellbros always put on a dynamite show; they're also promising a sophomore album in the near future.
Percussive action!
Matt left the chaps at home.
Singalong action!
Headbanging action!
Count Rockulla sings!
Back-to-back action!
And so on!
More Christian!
Bonus Spag!
More guitar!
And now, direct from the 1970s, it's Black Pussy! The Portland, Oregon crew have been making waves lately (and generating a bit of name controversy as well), but they aren't just a retro act. Like Queens Of The Stone Age they take the psychedelic and hard rock guitar sounds of the late 1960s and early 1970s and generate something new.
Organ action!
Guitar action with Ryan McIntire!
Dustin Hill sings a bit!
Dean Carroll is a happy drummer.
Rhythm section action with bassist Aaron Poplin.
Chief O'Dell works the keys!
More Ryan!
Paisley action!
Guitar action!
Definitely worth checking out.
