I made another rare sojourn to Mavericks Sunday evening for what was, to me, a can't miss show. I've been enjoying the music of Six Organs of Admittance since the band first emerged on the Holy Mountain label back in the late 1990s, and have followed the career of its main brain, Ben Chasny, through a host of other projects. He hasn't disappointed me yet, and this show was no exception. He was joined by Elisa Ambrogio - best known for performing with Magik Markers - who proved a most able opener (unsurprising, given their work together on 200 Years and general sonic kismet).
Elisa sings! Her first songs were in a primitive strummy mode.
Guitar action!
Ben joined her on stage for several songs (including 200 Years' West Hartford), along with Residual Echo's drummer Adam Payne.
Extra Elisa!
Adam hits!
More Ben and Adam!
Elisa rocks out!
Extra Adam!
More guitar!
More rocking out!
Bracelet-on-string action!
On to Ben's main action with Six Organs of Admittance, accompanied by Adam and Andrew Mitchell on bass (he's performed before with SOOA on guitar.
Rhythmic action!
Bonus Ben!
The whole lot!
Ben sings!
Things got heavy.
Bonus Andrew!
Adam hits a bit more.
An excellent evening.
