Saturday night I headed over to the House of Targ to finally grab an earful of Mokomokai, a Peterborough metal trio that several folks have tipped me too. Mind you, I need no excuses to go and see Yogi's latest band, BlackBread and Ian Blurton's Public Animal.
Yogi and Co. took the stage first.
Adam hits !
Last time I saw them, at the Dominion, Megan Dean was playing keys, this time around she just sang.
Rhythm section action!
Extra Paul!
Extra Megan!
More Ian!
The whole lot!
Bonus Adam!
Mokomokai lived up to their advance billing, playing a great set of NYOBHM-inspired metal. The band's minitour is celebrating their Deep Purple covers split with Public Animal. Here's singer and guitarist John Ellis.
Bassist Jeremy Pastic ...
Anf finally fuzzy drummer Jean-Paul Contois.
Yes, that is chainmail shirt.
Headbanging action!
Blurry action!
The shouty bit!
Double Dragon action!
Guitar lifting action!
Public Animal finished the night off, and more or less finished me off as well. I couldn't stay to the end, but lasted long enough to hear a few tunes and see Ian Blurton play musical chairs with a series of amps after his own gave up the ghost (or something like that). But first here's Ryan and Caitlin.
And of course Sir Ian and Eric!
Ian just has a few things to say ....
Stick-flipping action!
Caitlin sings!
Ian the Red!
The whole lot!
Extra Ryan!
Bonus Caitlin!
And a bit more Ian, the blue version.
Then it was home to bed!
