Who doesn't associate the Holy Cobras with Christmas jollity? Just about everyone I guess. This gig was an opening set for Ty Segall, following up a super RRPP set last year at the Atomic Rooster with an even better set at Babylon while on tour behind his new album Melted. I don't think the Holy Cobras have ever played a bad set; they were great this time around as well, but the crowd was no match for the folks who were jumping and screaming the previous time I saw them at their Gaga Weekend III performance.
First, DJ Craig sets up some 45s.
Bass action from Knifemare's Ryan.
Drum-hitting and hair-shaking with Kristal!
Rodd and Daniel do their thing ... Ty later noted he has a pyramid tattoo in the exact same place as Daniel, but he had it filled in.
More Kristal!
Rodd prepares to step on it.
Daniel sings!
Rhythm section action!
Daniel gets a good grip.
The whole lot!
Ryan shares my taste in fuzzy Scotsmen.
Kristal is under there somewhere.
M. Carruthers offers some technical assistance.
More Daniel!
More Rodd!
Daniel bends!
Them Cobras!
The end!
Daniel finished things up by telling the crowd to go to hell for their lacklustre appreciation. Rock!
