Here we go again

Another bunch of guys you're going to see much more of later on, Uranium Comeback. I wasn't expecting to see the comeback of Uranium Comeback since bassist Seiji is in Japan, but they corralled Zebrassieres bassist Daniel Collins as a replacement so that's allright.

Former Marxist action with Johnny and Steve!

Johnny O. says hi.

When will they play next? Well Gaga Weekend IV is probably a lock. (Flash update: They're playing July 30 with Red Dons at Babylon.)
  • Show reminder: Garaga and The Suppositories provide an unusually loud evening at Raw Sugar; Ace Kincaid, The Birthday Cakes and Graven are at Zaphod Beeblebrox; Coco Montoya is at The Rainbow; Phil Dunac Trio and Old Whiskey Road play the Elmdale House.

Sneak around

Creeping onto the stage next is The Creeps. Of course it's The Creeps, who else would be creeping? The hardened Gaga Weekend veterans - Jordy would also be playing with The Zebrassieres, Skotty with The Visitors and Crusades later on - played a typically punchy set.

First, video introduction action!

Those Creeps!

Extra-fisheye Ian.

The Creeps at Nine

Fist-pumping action! Also note that since those Gaga Weekend wristbands are white, they're all folks in a band (or bands, in Davey's case).

Since this set It's Alive records should have released their new 7-inch, Follow You Home.

Fully funded

Moving right along, we have The Greed Brothers. I think Get A Life Losers was supposed to play, but for whatever reason the bass player couldn't make it so the Brothers appeared instead to make a right lot of fuzzed out sort-of-blues skronkidelica.

Chris Bush gets a grip.

Tyler Goodman; like Chris, he left his pants offstage.

The audience goes wild!

Oh yes, I also shot some video, which must watch if only to see Tyler stab his snare to death with his highhat stand.

Luca holds up the victim of wanton drumicide.

What's next for The Greed Brothers? I don't know ... I'm not even sure they know ...
  • Show reminder: American Dollar, If Then Do and Adam Saikaley bring strange sounds to Club SAW; it's the last of The Grass's Zaphod's residencies, with The Mudplots, Ship Shapes and Woodrunners; The Fed Pennies play The Rainbow; Mavericks goes metal with Darkness Rites, Immersed and Endemise; Dead Zone and Hello Darkness are upstairs at Cafe DeKcuf.

Fear of fetus

Let us cast our minds back a couple of weeks to the dates encompassing June 10-12. You may find you have a three-day blackout thereabouts, vague memories of guitars, girls, guys and that mysterious substance known only as "Gaga." Gaga Weekend Mk. III, the Ottawa festival of rock slapped together by Going Gaga Records tyrant Ian Manhire and his partners in crime once again got its first kicks of life from the Rock'N'Roll Pizza Party. This time around there weren't any forlorn faces looking in the window. That's because Nine is (a) bigger than The Atomic Rooster and (b) on the second floor. But seriously, the place was quite jammed by folks there to see Pregnancy Scares give birth to the first set.

Ian Manhire lifts a bottle to the latest madness.

Pregnancy Scares at Nine

I guess I should mention the rhythm section of Emmanuel Sayer and David Forcier, since I was generally not in a good position to get a good photo of either or them.

Pregnancy Scares at Nine

Emmanuel takes a stand. I know someone not shooting without a fisheye got a better photo ...

Emmanuel returns to the stage after a little crowd-diving.

Ladies and gentlemen, the torso of Craig.

Drumkit destruction finale! There was also some Telecaster tossing.

Pregnancy Scares at Nine

Pregnancy Scares will once again be rocking the RRPP July 15 with Grown-ups. I will also say that there cover of The White Wires' Girly Girly Girly along with Tokyo Sex Whale's version of Ha Ha Holiday means their should be a Wires tribute album.
