Back in the middle of May I toddled over to Black Squirrel Books to check out some pop and rock action. There were sets from local acts Stoby, The Dant Danners and The Tenenbaums, along with Asbury Park, New Jersey combo Teenage Halloween. I was particularly keen to see Stoby, since I've been hearing about them quite a bit but never seemed to be able to get out to see them (they're also playing this weekend with Expanda Fuzzz and Mushy Gushy at Irene's). Here's Maryse on vocals!
Bass action with Rick!
The whole lot!
More Maryse!
Jesse hits!
Extra Kevin!
And so on!
More Maryse!
Clapping action with Rick!
And, er, that's it since I arrived too late to hear more than a couple of songs. On to the Tenenbaums! Here's Kyle and Sheehan!
Sheehan sings!
Kyle sings!
Alex hits!
More Sheehan!
Closeup Kyle action!
Next up, the "flaming queer pop" of Teenage Halloween! They have a revolving cast of players, so here's some collective musical action!
Keyboard action!
Percussive action!

Then it was The Dant Danners' turn. Here's Scott, Mike, Steve and Tony!
More Scott and Mike!

Rhythm section action with Scott and Steve!
And so on!
More vocal action!
They'll be playing at Beyond The Pale's Launchpad event on June 28.
