A week ago I traipsed over to Cafe DeKcuf for some psychedelic-metal-doom-rock action. Philadelphia's Ecstatic Vision were on tour for a few days, and dropped into Cafe DeKcuf to blow minds and scorch eyeballs. They were joined by Norilsk, Montreal's Black Sails For Red Seas, with Longhouse kicking things off. Here's Mike on drums!
Shane (also of Loviatar) handled all the guitar duties.
Bass action with Josh!
Extra Mike!
Lengthy action!
Housed action!
The whole lot!
A shouty bit!
Rhythmic action!
I was really impressed by Black Sails For Red Seas' appropriately named "doomgaze" - definitely a band I'm keen to check out again. Here's some bass action with Christian!
James hits!
Guitar action with Eric and Georges!
More Georges!
Extra Eric!
More Christian!
Even more Eric!
More James!
Norilsk played a crisp set of death-doom, with a guest appearance by Josh from Longhouse. They've just released a new mini-album, Weepers Of The Land. Here's guitarist Matt!
Microphone devouring action with Nic!
More guitar with Tom!
Extra Matt and Nic!
Eye-rolling action with Tom!
Even more Nic!
More Matt!
Nick hits!
Headingbanging action!
Josh guested on the new album's title track, which he also co-wrote the lyrics for.
More Josh and Tom!
I love the Stooged-out, Hawkwind worshipping vibe of Ecstatic Vision, but I confess that it's the last time I go to see them live because their constantly strobing lightshow made me want to put my eyes out. Here's frontman Doug!
Doug sings!
Bass action with Michael!
Guitar action with Kevin!
More guitar with Doug!
Saxophone action!
The whole lot! Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good shot of drummer Ricky.
Another then my blistered orbs, a great night out.
