At the end of March, before my encounter with the cold from hell, I headed over to Mavericks for some ultraheavy sounds. I confess I bought my ticket for this Primitive Man headlining show under the impression I was going to see Early Man (I'm familiar with both bands, but since I've seen Early Man twice before at Mavericks my brain made the incorrect connection on autopilot). First band up were lcoals Hunter, Gatherer. Here's guitarist Garrett and bassist Nick!
More Garrett!
Extra Nick!
Kelso hits!
Garrett sings!
Kelso sings!
Even more Nick!
More Kelso!
Bonus Garrett!
Even more Nick!
Far too much Kelso!
Another Ottawa band, Consequents, brought a proggier flair to the show. Here's guitarist Anthony!
Graham makes ready!
Here's sound engineer Zain and bassist Cameron!
Blake hits!
Throbbing forehead vein action!
More Zain!
Extra Cameron!
More Graham!
Extra-stringy action!
Extra-bassy action!
Consequential action!
And so on!
More Graham, Zain and Cameron!
Denver's Spectral Voice put a bit of thought into their stage presentation, but it ended up so dark and smokey you'll have to be mostly content with pre-set photos.
Guitar action!
Smokey action!
And here's the view from back a ways.
They turned the lights up a bit for Primitive Man's crushing set. Here's frontman ELM in mid-bellow!
Smokey bass action with JPC!
JDL hits!
Rhythm section action!
Guitar action with ELM!
And so on!
A great night!
