A couple of weeks ago the Juno Awards rolled into town, and with it a bunch of shows under the banner of Junofest. I missed most of them, did did manage to make it out to Targ to catch Partner and a bunch of other acts - Juno nominees Weaves, Toronto's Thrifty Kids and Ottawa's own Scary Bear Soundtrack. The Scary ones were on first, here's some bass action with Dannik!
Keyboard action with Tiffanie!
Gloria sings!
Bearish action!
Vocal action!
Extra Gloria!
Soundtracked action!
Kevin hits!
Singalong action!
The whole lot!
Gloria runs about!
Thrifty Kids played a fun set of twangy pop that reminded me of Saturday Looks Good To Me; here's singer Sarah!
Bass action with Patrick!
Thrifty action with guitarist Dylan and drummer Cian!
Extra Cian!
More Dylan!
More Sarah!
Even more Dylan!
This is the third time I've seen Partner; they put on a great show every time. Here's Josee and Brendan!
Lucy sings!
A shouty bit!
Brendan hits!
Back-to-back action with Dan and Josee!
Singalong action with Lucy!
Bass action with Kevin!
Hand-clapping action!
More guitar!
Singalong action!
Faceoff action!
Weaves played a set of hard-hitting art-rock; they made me think of a louder Lilliput. Here's guitarist Morgan, bringing his shirt A-game.
Bass action with Zach!
Banner action with Spencer!
Gripping action with Jasmyn!
Extra Zach!
More Spencer!
More Morgan and Jasmyn!
Even more Morgan!
And a final bit of extra Spencer.
A great combination of music.
