Last Thursday I headed over to the House of Targ for another helping of (mostly) electronic music. The bill featuring Coccinella, Featurette, For Esme and Parallels isn't part of the Switched on Synths series, but most of the acts would fit right in to the poppier end of the spectrum. First up were Coccinella, sporting some appropriately dotted apparel. Here's Ommie doing her part to keep the band synth-friendly.
Melanie hits!
Singalong action!
Fretful action with Stephanie!
The whole lot!
Featurette put on a great set. Here's Jon Fedorsen starting things off.
Lexie Jay sang, danced around and played the synth.
Synthetic action!
Cinematic action!
And so on!
Percussive action!
Bullhorn action!
More synths!
More percussion!
Even more percussion!
Big finish!
Parallels also put on an excellent set. Singer Holly Dodson has been compared to early-1980s' Madonna - I can definitely hear the similarity.
Keyboardist Artem used to play drums for crystal castles.
Radiant action!
Grimacing action!
More keyboards!
Holly's brother Nick handles the drums.
Singalong action!
Extra Holly!
Bonus Nick!
The whole lot!
Electro-pop's biggest R.D. Salinger fans, For Esme, finished the evening off. Like Featurette's set, there was a lot of onstage jumping about. Here's singer Martha on electronic percussion.
More Martha and guitarist Nathan.
Dave handles the low end!
More Nathan!
Martha sings!
Backup vocal action!
Singalong action!
Dave sings!
The whole lot!
More percussion!
Extra Dave!
A top-notch night of shows.
