There's been a sad gap in thelocal music scene for the last few months as Gabba Hey, one of the few decent spots for an all ages show, underwent renovation. Well, the fixing-up is done, so now the youngsters can get down again. The first band back on the Gabba Hey stage was Soft Drugs, but I unfortunately arrived too late to snap any photos. The next band up was a new one, and also featured at least one Weed Mom vet. Spell have got a krautrock-goes-to-New Zealand thing going on and started off with some very motorik sounds.
Headless action!
Danelectro action!
Tyrin hits!
Vocal action!
Keyboard action!
More guitar!
Is Peterborough Canada's new music capital?!? Well, they've got Mokomokai, The Silver Hearts, Faux Cults and Beef Boys going for them, so it's at least punching well above its weight. The Beef Boys were in trio form for this hard-hitting set. Here's Germ Sperman, Brandon Root and Luca Mo!
Infectious vocal action!
More Mo!
Singalong action!
Brandon hits!
Another shouty bit!
Faux Cults capped the evening with some ramshackle poppage. Here's Will, Charlotte, Luca again and Riley on drums.
Will frets!
Charlotte sings!
Riley hits!
Extra Charlotte!
Singalong action!
And so on!
Faceoff action!
An excellent return.
