Like The Pack A.D., my introduction to The Hold Steady was before they got big (relatively speaking). It was at a packed show at Zaphod Beeblebrox in October 2006, front row. They were fantastic. They sounded just as good now, but needless to say couldn't run around in the crowd or hand off their guitars to crowd members.
