Here's a bunch more photos from Saturday night's performance by Carlangas, a.k.a. Charlie Brooks and a bunch of other folks. Last time I saw him at Irene's (back in 2005) he had a bunch of folks from Montreal with him. This time around he recruited from Castor, the Chelsea-based psychedelic combo he also works with.
But first, a snappily dressed Will Desjardins does a little microphone-testing.
John from Birdman Sound and The Band Whose Names Is A Symbol does some introducing.
Charlie rocks the Gibson.
Sasha-Rose on alto saxophone.
Charlie frets!
Will hits!
Dave Reford, also from TBWNIAS, was tucked away in the corner.
Charlie breaks out the 12-string and organ peddles.
Sasha-Rose gets down on the violin.
There was some singing about ghosts.
Can you tell I was not the only person there with a flash last night? Thus the double images in some of these photos.
Percusssion action from James Brooks and Will.
Dave rings the bells.
James also played the trumpet on some of Charlie's latest album, Soulstalker.
And here's a picture where you can actually tell what's going on.
As for the Darth Vader mask, your guess is as goodas mine.
Fisheye action!
Will takes a turn on the pedals.
A swell show; I'm hoping it won't be another six years until the next one.
