And here he is, whacking his pipes.
Anyway, after the hot dog was finished, it was time for meatier fare. I previously considered going to see Santana, but his massive crowd meant I wouldn't even be able to get close to a Jumbotron. Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes turned out to be more my line anyway, since he's about as close to bar band royalty as it gets. He kept things pretty bluesy.
The man himself, and Jukes bassist John Conte.
The Jukes regular guitarist is Bobby Bandiera, but I believe this tete-a-tete is with Glen Alexander.
Glen sings! In the background, the shadowy figures of the Jukes' brass section, including tenor saxman Joey Stann, trumpeter Chris Anderson, saxophonist Eddie Manion and trombonist Neal Pawley.
Johnny plays some harp.
Glen bends.
Jeff Kazee works the keys.
Trombone solo with Neil!
Microphone-sharing action!
Johnny is amused!
More singalong action!
The whole lot, seen from the other side of the stage!
Then it was off to Plants & Animals.
- Show reminder:It's coast-to-coast fever at Capital Music Hall with Hot Hot Heat, Hey Rosetta! and Rich Aucoin; The Nobs hit the Rainbow; David Roy Parsons and Andy Mason are at the Elmdale House.
